By the providence of God, I was born in Louisiana, and by His grace I now live in Arkansas with my wife and three kids. At one time, I pastored a small congregation of Missionary Baptists in Texas, and was later an associate and youth pastor in Bossier City, La.. I no longer actively pastor a church (story for another time), but I am active in my local Southern Baptist church family.
Outside of trying to be an undershepherd of the flock of God, I've never been accused of doing anything "crazy" or "radical" (unless you count a conversion to reformed theology). In fact, I'm the guy that lives the safe, boring, predictable Christian existence that so many live. I'm the comfort over "stepping out" guy. Even outside Christianity, I'm dull. I haven't been many places, seen many things, and I've never had a real desire to travel. But things are changing!
God is really doing a work in my life. My aim is to make much of Jesus by not wasting the gift of life He gives. I can no longer accept the "safe" existence. I don't want to sound cavalier or more courageous than I am because there are still plenty of fears to be dealt with, but it's time to start "stepping out!"
In June, I will be a part of a five man team heading to southern India to do evangelistic work and minstry. I would really appreciate any and all prayers. I hope to post once a week leading up to and during the trip. The team members are: myself (Jason), Ernest, Robert, Ken, and Chuck.
There's so much to pray for, but for now please pray that the Holy Spirit would go even now and begin preparing hearts for a mighty harvest. Also pray that the gospel would be rightly preached in power and Spirit, for it IS the power of God for salvation.
Anyway, passport is in, most of the shots...shot, supplies gathering, and my heart preparing. Later, I hope to share more about where I've been in the faith, and where I am, and what God has used to move me. I also look forward (God willing) to share of the fruit I'm hoping in God for in India.
Soli Deo Gloria
